ISYS3401 IT Evaluation Individual Assignment 1
The purpose of IT Evaluation is to evaluate hardware, software, a website or a small piece of hardware, such as smartphone. In this assignment, you will develop a research model and a survey questionnaire to evaluate user experience on a preselected website or an app. This assignment is based on Week 1 to 6 lectures.
The University of Student Union (USU – https://www.usu.edu.au) is a not-for-profit organisation providing services for their members or students at the University of Sydney. The vision of USU is to provide the best university experiences for their members. USU has requested you as an ISYS3401 consultant to evaluate the usability on their website and smartphone app to ensure it provides the best user experience for their members.
Requirements
(1) The objective of the study is to evaluate the usability on the University of Student Union (USU – https://www.usu.edu.au) website or app on the smartphone to ensure it provides the best students’ (user) experience. You only have to select one platform to evaluate, i.e. either the USU website or the USU app.
(2) You will create a research model. You are interested in the behaviour of the USU members of how they use the USU website and app. You have to create a model with constructs and variables usually found in IS literature (such as TAM model). You use the TAM model as a starting point to develop a model. If you believe the TAM model does not fit your objective, then you can search for other models, which might fit your objective.
In the case of TAM model, you might not need to use all the constructs from one model in one paper. You might “borrow” one construct from one paper, and a few more constructs from other papers to create your own model. However, you must reference where you get your materials, and justify the construction of your model.
(3) You need to select the most appropriate research methodologies to fit your research model in (2), either:
(a) A Likert-scale type questionnaire (quantitative), or
(b) A survey with both Likert-scale type questions and open-ended questions
(quantitative and qualitative).

(4) You create a strategy to collect data based on (3), for example, a paper survey or an online survey. For instance, there is no point to ask a UTS student for his/her user experience on USU website. The ability to collect the data is crucial otherwise you might have no data to analyse.
(5) Apart from conclusion, you have to say what are your limitations; that is, something outside the scope of your research or your research model.
