Project 6: Intelligent network configuration based on Gaussian-noise model
The project will investigate optical network route planning and optimisation for future automatic optical networks. Intelligent network auto-configuration will be developed based on gaussian-noise network models of optical networks [1]. The developed tool for network auto-configuration will consider the physical parameters of optical links and optimise the transmission performance. The tool will be validated over a field-trial testbed between Bristol and Cambridge. Multiple protocol will be used to configure optical facility remotely. Through the project, you will gain knowledge about current long-haul transmission systems and fiber optical communications.
