The University of Nottingham-Ningbo, China Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering EEEE3070 (H63ECH) Embedded Computing
EEEE3070 Embedded Computing, Coursework Academic year 2020/2021
General considerations
 The coursework involves assembly language programming for a PIC microcontroller, debugging the program using computer simulations and hardware implementation. This can be done using any personal computer that has an USB (universal serial bus) port available using a proper programmer.
 The assessment is competitive. This means that the marks may be scaled as appropriate if the coursework was found too easy or too challenging by the majority of the class.
 The coursework counts for 25% of the module mark thus the time planned to spent on it is about 36 hours (one full-time week).
 The updates to the coursework materials and further announcements (if any) will be provided on Moodle.
 Before starting programming the coursework, assemble and execute the tutorial program written in PIC18F assembly language using the MPLAB (Appendix F of M. Rafiquzzaman book).
 There is 1 tasks (design project) nominally worth 100 marks of the coursework. It involves:
 Schematic circuit design.
Firmware design including programming peripheral devices of the
microcontroller, interrupts and ADC.  Hardware implementation and testing.
 For students who are off-campus (international students including HMT) and can’t proceed with the hardware implementation, an extra task will be requested separately.
 If any particular subtask was not developed to the completion, the student must state in the report what was achieved and what not. Some marks could be awarded for the effort based on the judgement of the module convener. If the code for any particular task does not work, the marks for the questions within this task will not be awarded. Please show your working code to the module convenor/demonstrator – they will take a record for the assessment.
 All the students have signed the undertaking for the plagiarism. Within the context of this coursework ANY transfer of information electronically or printed on paper (snippets of code, diagrams, text, files etc.) will be considered an offence, and both parties will be prosecuted for this. You CAN answer a question from your friend verbally or scribble something on a piece of paper if you want to.

 Friday 18 December 2020 at 4 pm is the deadline for the submission of the coursework report. You should submit an electronic copy of both of your report and the archived directories of the fully completed and attempted steps on Moodle (please use either ZIP or RAR formats). Before that you should also present/demonstrated the circuit/system you have designed.
