QMEA HW2
Due Nov 2nd, 2020 before midnight. Based on GSS Data
In Teams under files: General > Class Materials > Data for Keller > GSS
There are TWO parts. Practical Data Analysis.
CASE
▪ GSS Survey PART I
▪ Look at GSS Data from 2000 to 2014
▪ Create descriptive summary of the surveys using summary
statistics/Graphs/Tables e.g. proportion of women, education, etc.
▪ From the descriptive summary, identify 4 interesting outcomes that
may caught your eyes and you would like to explore.
▪ State your hypotheses regarding the 4 interesting outcomes.
▪ Do the proper test with interpretation/implication of your findings.
PART II
• Using information you get working on PART I, Set up hypotheses and test them. Before working on the test, please explain why the hypothesis is interesting.
• Show 1 test for each method listed below. 1. Two population t-test for means
2. Two Population test for proportions 3. Two-wayANOVA
4. Variety of Non-parametric test to match what you do in the first 3 methods.
• This part hypotheses must be different from PART I.
• You can see some idea to test these with GSS data in the textbook. ▪ Summarize what you have learnt from this exam.
▪ All works have to be done using softwares (word, excel, R, etc.)
Keep in mind
1. Clearly state the key questions and problems from the case.
2. Detail analysis of the raw data: descriptive analysis both graphic, table, and statistics.
3. Map out possible inferential statistics to make a proper conclusion (both parametric
and non-parametric).
4. Give your conclusion and write a short in-depth statement about what
application/policy /decision can be made or extend from your conclusion.
5. Show all works clearly.
6. The final score is based on the explanation and completeness of your work.
