I am writing to express my interest in the marketing intern role in Parkes Philanthropy. As an operations research student with analytics concentration at Columbia University, I believe both my education and my experiences in analytics and optimization modelings put me in a highly matching position according to the responsibilities outlined in your job description.
I have strong background on various modern data analytics tools, such as SQL and python. During my last summer internship in a logistics company, I selected effective and significant data from company’s database through SQL, and then I assisted to design an efficient transportation optimization model involving various factors using Python with Gurobi. The new optimization model we designed helped the company to improve the efficiency rate of approximate 3% and lead to a 8% less spending on overall transportation.
In addition to a strong technical background, my skills in project coordination and management cultivated much earlier when I was in undergraduate school. In a team of four, we simulated a bakery restaurant from constructing to opening in every details. We prepared the Gnatt Chart, network diagrams and work breakdown structures. Our simulation case was highly competitive among all 23 teams and was fairly appraised as the best.
My experiences at both academic institutions and professional fields have prepared me to immediately contribute to the marketing and PR intern position at Parkes Philanthropy
