The Exam
The University has given me two choices:

Same weight as before:
Geometry: 50/50
HPG: 60/40
Subject to adjustment at exam board

Takehome Test
Available 0900 18/05/20 (Geom), 20/05/20 (HPG)
Due in at 0900 20/05/20 (Geom), 22/05/20 (HPG)
That gives you 48 hours to work on it
But it should only take 3-5 at most
You may ask questions as if it were an exam

Two types of questions become possible
Essay questions
Worked problems
COMP5822M: High Performance Graphics
Essay Questions
Short (less than a page each)
There usually isn't a right answer
It's about your thought process
Why you think something is true
Backed up by evidence
So explain your thoughts
And work through this type slowly

Worked Problems
Most exams, I can't get you to do maths
Because there isn't time to work it through
And you don't remember all of the formulas
For a takehome, I CAN ask them
But they need to be good tests of the material
Answer this type meticulously
Don't skip steps or leave things out
COMP5822M: High Performance Graphics
New Types of Topics
Straightforward but tricky parts of material
Inverse lookup of concepts
what do we use X for?
Application of ideas to new questions
Often drawn from recent papers
Here's a problem – how would you solve it?
Must be soluble based on class material
