Case study (report submission)
To keep pace with newer e-business developments and open standard initiatives, a small manufacturing company needs to make its business applications that are currently highly monolithic and highly inflexible easily accessible to internal and external users. The company wishes to develop a web-based information system to for its operations.
The Chairman of the company has heard of Multiview framework and he is approaching you to use the Multiview framework to develop the new web-based information system for the company.
Notes:
The case study is intentionally lack of details, you are required to make assumptions in order to complete the assignment. You must state clearly any assumption you have made for this case study. You need to find references if needed, by yourself.
Your tasks
• Based on the knowledge you have researched on Multiview framework, you are required to submit a report to the Chairman of the company describing the outcomes for each of the five steps below:
• Organisation analysis Analyse human activity
• Information analysis Analyse information
• Work design Analyse and design socio-technical aspects
• HCI Design human-computer interface
• Technical design Design technical aspect
Your report must include the following sections:
• Assumptions made in the case study.
• Outcomes for each of the five steps above.
• You have studied three methodologies in the topic of “Process-oriented methodologies” (see lecture topic Week 8), use one of the methodologies discussed in this topic area, write a report to the Chairman of the company describing the outcomes of the phases based on the methodology you have selected. You should describe as detailed as possible the outcome of each of the phases based on the assumptions you made in the case study.
• There is no word limit, it is up to your group how comprehensive and details you want to include in the report. See the marking rubric for marking criteria.
