Lab Assessment
You will be required to submit an individual lab report for laboratory sessions 2-5 as part of the overall
assessment for this course. This will account for 15% of you final mark.
Details as follows:
1. The Lab report should include all results as required by the labsheets, plus any subsequent analysis,
comparison with theory, and graphs. So no need for big introduction and conclusions.
2. The Lab report can be either handwritten and then subsequently scanned for electronic submission,
or generated using word processor/graphing packages. The report should be a single pdf document
with filename GUID Lab, for example: 2406752_Lab.pdf
3. The report should be submitted by Fri 9th Dec using the Assessment link on the ENG5292 Moodle
4. Failure to attend all 5 lab sessions and/or submit a lab report will result in credit withheld (CW) being
awarded for this course.
Technical Essay
You will also be required to submit a Technical Essay as part of the overall assessment for this course. This
will also account for 15% of your final mark.
Choose one of the following topics:
1. Cryogenics power electronics
2. The role of Power Electronics in Grid connected Renewable energy systems
3. The development of large Superconducting Brushless PM generators for Offshore Wind applications
Details as follows:
1. The essay should be in the region of 3000 words (+/- 10%) plus associated figures.
2. The essay as the name suggest should have significant technical content (but only including equations
where absolutely necessary) based on a number of ‘good quality’ references.
3. The essay should be submitted by Fri 9th Dec using the Assessment link on the ENG5292 Moodle page.
The essay should be submitted as a pdf file with filename GUID_TE.pdf, for example: 2401527_TE.pdf
4. Failure to submit the technical essay will result in credit withheld (CW) being awarded for the course.
